Our Story
Pareng Media is a South Sudanese grassroots media organization that was born out of a simple conviction: every community deserves to have its stories told honestly, accurately, and with dignity. Founded by South Sudanese journalists and community organizers, we operate wherever South Sudanese communities have established themselves — from the towns and villages of South Sudan to diaspora communities across East Africa, North America, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East.
We are not a wire service or a foreign bureau. We are a community media platform built by South Sudanese people for South Sudanese people. Our correspondents live in the communities they cover. They speak the languages, understand the context, and share the lived experience of the people whose stories they document.
Our work spans event coverage, community reporting, visual storytelling, and archival documentation. We produce content that informs the public, holds institutions accountable, and preserves a reliable record of community life for present and future generations.
